Who initiated THE ANNEX?

The Annex is an initiative and creation by the founder of The Talent Table. A trained chef and sommelier, having executed for high profile clients and Dutch national TV, she chose to focus on what she loves to do; creating unique and special culinary environments for others. By sharing her passion with others, she hopes to engage, encompass and encourage true hospitality through the culinary arts.

THE ANNEX is located in Geijsteren, a quaint village in North Limburg, The Netherlands.

What is the history of THE ANNEX?

Sitting on over 14.000 square meters of unobstructed land, The Annex, formerly a living farm or woonboederij, was re-built by special permission by a well known professor and his wife, who wanted to embrace the unique nature surrounding the property. A few of the noted features is a monumental Sweet chestnut (Castanea sativa) tree, dating back to over 200 years, the surrounding protective farmland spanning over 50 acres, perpetual light due to an angular construction and endless skies to gaze at the stars on a clear night sky.

After 35 years, this historic property was then transformed to The Annex. Maintaining the original thoughts and design used to build it, The Annex continues to embrace its history while moving towards a new chapter.

What is the environment like?

We ask kindly to respect the nature and fellow guests, by keeping the noise down in the late evening and early morning hours.

Can children stay at The Annex?

Due to the nature of our villa, only guests over the age of 21 can be accommodated.

Is The Annex wheelchair accessible?

Regrettably The Annex is not wheelchair accessible.

Are pets allowed at The Annex?

Unfortunately we are not able to accommodate pets at The Annex.

Is smoking allowed?

The Annex is a smoke-free retreat, in accordance with Dutch regulations. A cleaning fee of €150 is charged to guests in case of smoking within the house. Smoking is permitted in designated areas in the pool and sheep meadow areas.

When is check-in?

Check-in is from 3PM on the day of arrival.

Can I take home the bath products?

While we love to share, please be kind to the next guest and leave all bath products/slippers/towels behind. Additional charges will be applied if any of these items find their way into your bag.

EARLY CHECK-IN

Early check-in (before 3PM) is subject to the following terms and conditions:

In case you would like to check in at a specific time before 3PM, a surcharge will be applied, since we have to reserve The Annex from the night before.

Early check-ins shall be charged according to the effective rate of the previous day (i.e. an early check-in on Friday shall be charged according to Thursday’s rate).

  • Early check-in before 8AM:
    100% of the retreat rate per night
  • Early check-in before 11AM:
    75% of the retreat rate per night
  • Early check-in from 11AM to 1PM:
    30% of the retreat rate per night

If you would like to extend your stay, please contact The Annex directly in advance.

Your request for an early check-in will be granted if possible (subject to availability), only after confirming with The Annex and paying the extra charge at the time of request.

When is check-out?

Check-out is until 12PM on the day of departure.

LATE CHECK-OUT

Late check-out (after 12PM) is subject to the following terms and conditions:

Late check-outs shall be charged according to the effective rate of the current day.

Late check-out after 12PM:
100% of the room rate per night

If you would like to extend your stay, please contact The Annex directly in advance.

Your request for a late check-out will be granted if possible (subject to availability), only after confirming with The Annex and paying the extra charge at the time of request.

  PREPARING FOR YOUR STAY

What happens after I request to book?

Immediately after sending us a booking request, we will send a confirmation to your email address. In this email, click the button ‘Proceed to Payment’ and follow the steps to complete your reservation payment and confirmation.

How do I receive the key to The Annex when I arrive?

The Annex runs a seamless, contactless check in. Allow us to coordinate with you upon confirming of your booking. There will be a charge of €150 for any lost keys.

What are the rates to book The Annex?

The Annex can be booked on a self-catered basis, pricing is as follows, based on a minimum two night stay:

Low Season (January – March/October – December except for Christmas and New Years)

€850 per night (maximum 12 guests)

High Season (April – September)

€1.250 per night (maximum 12 guests)

Christmas and New Years 

€1.800 per night (maximum 12 guests)

We can also recommend third party companies who can provide private chefs, should our guests wish for in-house dining experiences. 

There is a €1.000 deposit required upon booking and an additional €250 cleaning fee.

What meals and beverages are included during my stay?

The Annex is rented on a self-catering basis, but should our self catered guests wish to dine outside of our haven, organize private dining experiences, or stock the refrigerator with exquisite wines, we are happy to make recommendations.

Is parking available at The Annex?

The Annex can accommodate up to 4 cars. Should you opt to take the train, the closest station is Venray, just a 6 minute drive from The Annex. Pick up from the train station or private transportation from Amsterdam/Eindhoven/Weeze can be arranged at an additional fee.

Are bicycles included?

Bicycles are not included, but we can arrange bicycle rental options. Always park your bicycle in a designated bicycle stand.

How do I get around?

Enjoy walking in the kilometres of paths within the neighbouring forest, or into the village. If you arrive by car, you can explore the small countryside villages.

 THE ANNEX FEATURES

What size are the beds?

The Annex offers the following types of bedrooms:

Royale Comfy
– 29sqm double bedroom with private balcony overlooking a monumental chestnut tree, with additional farmland and pool views. Private bathroom and toilet adjacent to the room. Sleeps 2.

Royale Splendid
– 75sqm suite with en suite toilet and freestanding bathtub and elevated views of farmland and pool. Sleeps 2.

Royale Box
– 23sqm room with en suite toilet and shower. Sleeps 2

Royale Residence
– 76sqm room with en suite freestanding bathtub and vast panoramic view of pool and farmland with a connecting 26sqm room with a toilet, sofa bed and Smart TV. Sleeps 4.

All beds in the double rooms (with the exception of the sofa bed in the Royal Residence) are King size beds.

Is there Wi-Fi?

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout The Annex. Guest login will be supplied upon check in.

Is there a kitchen?

There is an eat-in kitchen with every gadget, toy and utensils your heart could ever desire. From our Berkel meat slicer to an ice maker, you’ll be certain to bring out that inner chef. 

  BOOKING AND PAYMENT

Can I make a reservation for The Annex via external travel websites?

As we like to keep things intimate, reservation inquiries for The Annex can be made on this website.

What is the minimum amount required to book a stay?

The Annex requires a minimum of a 2 night stay.

Can my reservation include stays outside of weekend retreats?

We would be happy to accommodate groups or corporate meetings mid-week. Please contact us at hello@theannexretreat.com for further information.

Is city tax included in my booking?

All rates exclude Geijsteren Tax of €1.25 per person, which is added during the booking process.

Which payment methods are accepted?

We require a credit card as guarantee and eventual incidentals/breakage. Payment for both deposit and full reservation balance is gladly accepted via bank transfer. For those who require, we are happy to issue an invoice after payment is effected.

What is your cancellation policy?
  • Reservations cancelled 30 days in advance of check in date will be reimbursed 100%
  • Reservations cancelled 14 days in advance of check in date will be reimbursed 75%
  • Reservations cancelled 7 days or less prior to check in date will not be reimbursed
